Dear Customer,
We are writing to inform you of an important change to the way your site receives BMS alarms and alerts.
The shared alarms mailbox (alarms@3mse.co.uk) that your site currently relies on will be discontinued on 31 December 2026. As part of our effort to upgrade Cybersecurity across our managed infrastructure, the single mailbox shared across many customers carries security and reliability risks we are no longer able to carry on your behalf. We are replacing it with dedicated infrastructure for each site under our new service, 3MSE Connect.
What Does This Mean for You?
After 31 December 2026, your site will no longer receive alarms and alerts through the shared mailbox. To maintain uninterrupted alarm visibility, your site must be migrated to 3MSE Connect before the end-of-life date.
Introducing 3MSE Connect
3MSE Connect gives your site its own dedicated email and remote access infrastructure – nothing shared with any other customer. It has two parts.
Part One
A Dedicated Alarm mailbox for Your Site
mysite.Alert@3mse.co.uk
Your alarms arrive at a mailbox that belongs to your site alone, on dedicated mail infrastructure provisioned for you.
- No alarm traffic mixed in with other customers’ sites
- You control who is on the distribution list, and can change it at any time
- A clean, auditable record of every alarm sent to your site
- Deliverability and sender reputation isolated from anyone else’s mailbox
Part Two
Secure Remote Access to Your BMS
https://mysite.3mse.domain
3MSE Connect gives your team secure access to your BMS interface from all your devices, anywhere, through your organisation’s existing single sign-on.
- Sign in with your work account – no more passwords handed out
- Your organisation’s existing MFA and access policies apply automatically
- Every session attributed to a named user, for security and audit transparency
- Revoking someone’s access is as simple as disabling their work account
How the Remote Access Works
1
Your BMS stays exactly where it is. The server remains on site, fully functional and resilient. Nothing about your existing installation moves to the cloud.
2
A lightweight VPN client links your BMS web interface to 3MSE’s cloud traffic handler over a private network. It is an outbound connection – no inbound ports, no public exposure of your server.
3
You sign in at mysite.3mse.io with your work account. Our cloud intermediary authenticates you through your organisation’s trusted single sign-on before any traffic is passed on.
4
Your session reaches the BMS over the private link. Your public connection never touches your system directly – the intermediary securely passes traffic on across the private network on your behalf.
What Signing In Looks Like
No client software to install, no shared password, no third-party remote-access tool sitting on your server. Your team opens your own site address in a browser and signs in with the work account they already use.
| Signing in to your BMS through your organisation’s single sign-on – from any device, on any network. |
The result: your BMS server is never exposed to a public connection, your system stays on site and resilient, and everyone who accesses it does so under their own work identity with a full audit trail.
What This Replaces
Connect is built to retire the workarounds sites have leaned on for years – remote-desktop tools such as TeamViewer or AnyDesk, shared logins, and ageing VPNs or forwarded ports that leave your server reachable from the internet.
Being Retired
- Remote-desktop tools such as TeamViewer or AnyDesk installed on the BMS server
- Shared usernames and passwords passed around by email, still working long after people move on
- Inbound VPN tunnels or forwarded ports that expose the server and hand over the wider site network
With 3MSE Connect
- Nothing extra on the server – and nothing to install on your team’s devices; access runs in the browser
- Named work accounts with your organisation’s own MFA, revoked the moment an account is disabled
- One outbound connection carrying your BMS web interface only – no inbound ports, no access to the rest of your network
